A few days before the first lockdown was imposed, we moved house. We only moved from one road in Stevenage to the next one along, but it’s not something I want to repeat anytime soon! However, it did give me the chance to completely redo my home salon.
When we moved in, the nail room was painted a lavender-grey colour which was perfectly fine, but it didn’t have the NbLDL vibes I’d envisaged, so I gave myself a blank slate & painted the whole room white. After having had plain white walls for so long previously, I decided I needed to inject some colour into the new home salon & so this yellow ombré wall was born.
It was a labour of love and ombré-ing walls is definitely trickier than nails! Whilst it is far from perfect, I’m really pleased with the finished look & I just love the sunny colour!
Once the walls were painted it was time to put up the shelves of selection so that I could unpack all my colours, glitters, foils & chromes. I actually had naked nails for a long time whilst I was decorating, so by this point I was itching to do them in something other than paint splatter & in order to do that I needed access to my pretties. Organising everything by colour co-ordination was beyond satisfying.
Next on the task list was to put up all my certificates. I’m proud of my qualifications & I think it’s important to display them, so these went up above the shelves of selection (in chronological order, of course).
Finally, it was time for a few finishing touches - the NbLDL coaster I painted at Pots of Art, my wedding bouquet (in NbLDL colours), and the famous SolarOil ‘drip’ image signed by Gigi Rouse herself.
