How Nails by Laura D Lee came to be

Updated: Aug 23, 2021

I have always been nail-obsessed. Before I qualified as a nail technician, I had a huuuge collection of nail polish, would use household tools for nail art (bobby pin dots anyone?) & I’d repaint my nails every couple of days in order to try out everything which excited me.

When I got married, I was introduced to the world of CND Shellacfor my wedding nails. I opted for Safety Pin with a semi-subtle mixed glitter fade - I loved the design, but I was absolutely hooked on how smooth my nails felt, even with glitter! I was so impressed with how long they lasted & that I could go straight from my appointment to netball training without bodging a single nail.

I desperately wanted to try more of the nail art options that pair so beautifully with CND Shellac, but Sweet Squared (aka S2 - the only authorised UK stockists for CND Shellac) only sell their products to trained professionals. This is so important, as it ensures that not only are the products used safely, but that you also know how to get the best out of them.

Being a nail artist was a world away from my 'day job' as a criminal defence solicitor, and that wasn't something I wanted to give up, but after a lot of thought I decided I could do both! I was lucky enough to train under the wonderful Anna Lee at Creative Academy London, and thoroughly enjoyed every second (surprisingly, even the science!)

Placing my first S2 order was ridiculously exciting & I still get giddy over a delivery now! Since that initial training I have opened a home salon in Stevenage, Herts & completed a number of additional courses in order to build up my skills, product knowledge & the number of treatments I am able to offer. I've discovered a passion for promoting a healthy natural nail, and being able to repair those that are damaged is so satisfying. My heart however definitely still belongs to creating all the nail art!
