I am thrilled to be able to let you all know that I entered into a nail art competition... and won!
The #DaylightSpringspiration competition was run by the Daylight Company, who set the design brief as "Nail art reflecting the things you love about Spring."
Now when someone says 'Spring' to me, the first thing I associate it with is the flowers. I'm a Spring baby and I count down to my birthday by when the daffodils appear. Since moving to Stevenage this has brought me particular joy, as there are rows and rows of them lining the roads leading to our house - is there a prettier sight than a sea of yellow flower heads?! I've loved spotting the various blossoms on our lockdown walks and my little boy can now name a whole heap of blooms thanks to me (and Grandma) excitedly pointing them all out.
So really there was no question as to what type of design I was going to enter. The only difficulty was narrowing down what kind of floral nail art to use - in the past I've designed manicures based on specific flower requests such as daisies, cherry blossom, or sunflowers; I've created accent nails with single flowers, whole sets with a botanical cuff, and floral prints covering the entire nail.
I'm no stranger to floral nail art. But this time I wanted to create something different, something truly special. So I went wild, and created these...
I used CND Shellac in 'Unmasked' which gave me the perfect nude base upon which to build a cacophony of colour, then I used my :YOURS stamping polishes to ensure my wildflowers really stood out. Some were stamped on, some were hand-painted, some were a mixture of the two, and all were a labour of love!
The competition was judged by Nicolette Safar-Manesh of Nicolette's Nails, a Nail Artist, Educator, and Top UK Nail Technician Finalist. She said "the detailing on your flowers is amazing and would have taken a lot of time & patience, and Spring is all about flowers." I am absolutely stunned to have been chosen as the winner & am so pleased with her words!
